São Jerônimo Hill
Amidst the walls of the cerrado, it impresses you right away with the grandeur of being the highest point of the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, offering an incredible view of the entire region.
Its name of indigenous origin is BOKODORIRI from the Bororo Indians, whose meaning has to do with the animal Armadillo Canasta. It is believed that looking from the plain, it is possible to perfectly see the armadillo on top of the walls
To its top with 850 meters, we go through a 16 km walk (moderate, but super possible believe me) – which includes old roads with several views of rock formations, a spectacle for the eyes, after all, we are in front of real buildings carved by nature.
At the peak it is possible to find small hematites, rocks that are very rich in iron ore — over time these stones acquire a gleaming shine as if they were polished, in many of them the impression is engraved of marine shells.
They are fossils from a remote time and are part of the upper rocky layer called Ponta Grossa.
Morro São Jerônimo is a spectacle for the eyes and a natural calming for the soul, who went was enchanted!
